Title: SoulBlade Chapter 2

Haxek arrived at the rental shop where Melanie had gone. He
looked around and saw Melanie standing very still, watching the dark
clouds getting closer and closer to the beach.
"Melanie," said Haxek, panting, "There was a man in a black robe
that's looking for you. I don't understand it, but he most likely wants to
kidnap you. The strangest thing about this man is that when I finished
talking to him, I saw him walk into a portal and vanish." Haxek put his
hands on Melanie's shoulders and looked into her large, brown eyes. "I
want you to stay alert, because I don't know when he will strike next."
Melanie nodded her head and ran behind the rental shop's counter to
hide. She knew Haxek was not joking, for his voice was too serious. She
knew her life was at stake if she did not hide. Who knows what the
robed man would do to her? She did not know, so it was best to be prepared
for anything.
I hope she'll be all right, thought Haxek. He looked back to make
sure Melanie was still behind the rental shop's counter. He then looked
around the beach and noticed that everyone was gone. Something must have
happened to them, thought Haxek. I hope everyone is okay. I wonder if
Krome is safe? He darted for the opposite end of the beach.
Half way there, Haxek stopped because of a strange sound he heard. It
sounded like a high-pitched ring. He tried to hear what direction the
sound was coming from. To his dismay, it was coming from every
direction. The sound was getting higher and higher and soon it started to drive
Haxek mad. He covered his ears and fell to the ground in pain. The
horrible sound soon stopped, and Haxek stood up and looked around to make
sure nothing was there. He began to run to look for Krome.
I don't know what that was, though Haxek, but I bet it will come
back. He stopped running when he noticed the sky was turning darker and
darker. He looked to his left and saw a tiny black creature with yellow
eyes creep out from the sand. He turned his head to the left and saw two
more crawl out of the sand. More and more appeared, and Haxek was not
able to stop them. He tried to get away from the little creatures, but
everywhere he looked, their glowing yellow eyes stared at him from every
direction. He was surrounded.
Haxek tried to run, but the creatures kept getting closer and closer
to him. He looked up to see Krome charging toward them. He had a stick
in his hand and he began to hit the little monsters.
"Get over here and help!" screamed Krome, throwing a stick to Haxek
so he could help fight. "I don't know what these things are, but they
sure are tough to beat!" The creatures kept coming at Krome, but he just
kept slashing at them to prevent them from attacking him.
Haxek caught the stick and jumped over to Krome's side. Haxek began
to attack the creatures. When he would hit one, it would turn into a
black vapor and vanish.
"Is Mel all right?" asked Krome, knocking one of the creatures on its
head.
"I am not sure. I told her to hide, and I haven't seen her since,"
said Haxek, dodging an attack. "Krome, I want you to go check up on
Melanie. You leave the fight, and take Melanie to a safer spot. I'll take on
these things."
Krome was startled. He was stronger and faster than Haxek, yet he
wanted him to leave the fight for his safety. Krome nodded, dropped his
stick, and headed for the opposite end of the beach.
Good luck, Krome, thought Haxek. He continued to swat at a creature's
head while he kicked another. I can't do this! They are attacking me!!!
The little creatures knocked Haxek to the ground and piled on top of
him. Soon, Haxek's whole body was covered with the little beasts and he
could do nothing to stop them.
Suddenly, Haxek's body started to glow, and the creatures started to
get off of him. Soon, his body was glowing so brightly that somehow it
made the creatures vanish. A blue sword appeared in Haxek's hand. It
was giving off an aura, almost like its power was visible. Haxek stood
up when he heard a voice in his head. It was saying:
<i>"Your soul is the chosen one to wield the SoulBlade capable of
defeating the Dark One. You must use this for good, for if it strays from
the path of justice, the world of Armonia will fade away. Use the
SoulBlade and defeat the Dark One."</i>
Haxek was so overwhelmed, he thought he might fall down and die, but
something told him that if he did not accept what the mysterious voice
told him, Armonia, his home world, might be destroyed. He knew he had
to use this sword to defeat the Dark One. But who <i>is</i> the Dark
One?
